Bundith Phunsombatlert
"I was inspired and motivated by the tremendous technological and industrial advances and changes evident
all over our society that have created a new set of values . . . a worship of material possessions/services, or
materialism."
Bundith Phunsombatlert's installation Ready Made Human Products criticizes materialism, which has
become increasingly evident in our society today. The work consists of screenprinted images of human body parts,
such as eyes, noses, mouths and brains, arranged on a vendor cart. It mocks the advertisement industry that has
transformed the masses into mere images and symbols. The human population has been sacrificed and dehumanized
for the progress of industrialism and commercialism. This installation serves as a reminder to our society of the evil
nature of materialism and its potential to ultimately bring about the downfall of man.
